Dr. Cecil Broadnax Joins Governet to Lead CurricUNET Sales and Business Development

SANTA BARBARA, December 5, 2013—Governet is pleased to announce that Cecil Broadnax, PhD., will join its executive team as VP of Sales and Business Development to oversee marketing of its award-winning curriculum management program, CurricUNET. The former Campus Director and faculty member of the School of Advanced Studies at University of Phoenix, Dr. Broadnax is a passionate educator with more than 20 years experience in higher education, educational technology, and biotechnology.

“Dr. Cecil Broadnax has dedicated his career to higher education and believes in providing educational opportunities with potential to change lives,” said George Tamas, CEO of Governet.  “We believe his deep understanding of academia will prove to be an asset, not just to Governet, but also to the clients we serve today, and hope to attract in the future.”

Earlier in his career, Dr. Broadnax led two academic service divisions at a 10,000 FTE public research university and developed business opportunities for IBM across higher education, medical, genomic, and proteomic research facilities.  Dr. Broadnax later joined Pearson International, where he led a global team responsible for Sales, Marketing, and Business Development building revenue generating relationships across the Americas.

A passionate and prolific Biomedical Engineer, Dr. Broadnax invented several medical devices that are sold globally. He has brought his energy and passion to the higher education community in his lectures on select biomedical engineering topics.  One of his favorite academic activities is to help students understand how to bridge the gap between academic rigor and real world results.

Dr. Broadnax is an avid learner and holds a PhD from Fordham University. He sat on several public sector, college, and K-12 trustee and advisory boards and has been recognized for his outstanding public service work.  His research and publication interests include educational technology and issues in its implementation, medical devices, biomedical engineering, and policies to enhance access to and foster wider success across educational opportunities.

“Like many of us at Governet, Dr. Broadnax believes strongly that educational technology has the potential to substantially influence student outcomes – whether face-to-face or virtual,” Tamas explained, noting that this belief is at the core of Governet’s guiding mission to transform education through the Worldwide Curriculum Network.
